2023 - week 24 - June 11-June 17 HOLIDAY EDITION!!!!!

Well who would have thought we would go on a holiday! Off the farm for a whole 7 days!!!! It's all due to our amazing staff who we have great faith in to look after everything really well while we are away.  Its a road trip and a plane trip - our new car has arrived so our daughter Sarah is buying our Ford Territory off us and as we are awesome parents we are driving it to her in Airlie Beach Queensland - 2199 kms away.  We will fly home

So we headed off Monday morning (after AI'ing our heifers) just a bit before lunch - lunch stop was just past Deniliquin and Id made rolls and hot drinks to have.  Nothing better than eating on the side of the road and then we were off again.....driving through lots of changing countryside and yes I was knitting and Gary was driving - I was hopeful of getting this scarf finished on our trip!

First night was spent at Forbes - we had hoped to get to Dubbo but it was getting dark and late so Forbes it was and a yummy pub meal too!

Gary was hungry after all that driving and quickly polished this off!

After a quick breakfast we were on the road again with the plan being we would try and get to Roma Queensland but we wanted to detour to Lightening Ridge along the way.  We achieved all of that! We want to go back to Lightening Ridge again - it was so interesting (and hopefully find some opals!)

And here we are at the Queensland border! Yippee!!! And it didnt seem to take that long to get there - company was excellent and the scenery stunning!

We arrived at Roma for the night and had a nice upgrade for our room and had a king spa suite so spent a lovely relaxing night there with dinner in our room.

While reading some of the brochures in the room we found that the cattle sale yards in Roma are the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere so decided to have a look at it first thing in the morning - it was huge! No cattle for sale (but this is now a work trip HA HA )

And my knitting was progressing nicely too!

And then the final stretch to Airlie Beach on day 3 - so many different things to see and we will definitely go back and take our time and explore - lovely country!

Arrived at Sarah's for dinner Wednesday night and to be honest we would have loved to just keep driving (but the company was excellent so we stayed :))

Im so glad we took the road we did - everyone said to go along the coastal road but we went the "inland way" and it was awesome - highly recommend!

As for my knitting look out for my usual weekly post and you will see how I went!

PS as you can see Jessie is very happy with her new doggie toy and Sarah with her new car!
