Cant believe its the end of September already! Three more months and it will be the end of the year! Crazy!!!!! Here on the farm we are almost finished calving and have been making silage - that the green marshmellow things you often see in padocks. Its not hot enought to make hay at this stage as it needs to be down on the ground for at least a week to 10 days so silage it is - and the cows really enjoy eating it. My leg is still giving me a lot of pain and is so frustrating but Im trying to focus on what I can do as opposed to what I cant do. On the can do front Ive finsihed a sock which is a test knit for a knitting friend in the US and I used some beautiful purple coloured yarn from Plucky Ive also really been enjoying getting back to doing quilting things - and have been trying really hard to keep my area clean and tidy so its easy to work on things. Firstly I finished a cot quilt for the yet to be named new grandson that will be born in queensland next February. My lovely f

So after a few gorgeous sunny days (and a couple over 30 degrees!) its been back to cold mornings of 2-4 degrees but lovely days. SO the wood heater has been lit again and Im glad I didnt clean it out thinking it was the end of the heating season. This often happens and thankfully we do have a split system as a back up but the wood heater does such a much better job. I have very exciting news on the crafting front - Ive finally been able to produce some spun yarn! Its been a journey but I was talking (ok I was whinging) to an online spinnng friend from the UK and she suggested that I try and spin a little bit each day to build up the muscle memory. I also changed what I was trying to sping and - yipppee!!! - I managed it. I also managed to ply it as well, which is where you spin (in the other direction) two bobbins of the yarn you have produced which spins them together. Gary has asked what Im going to do with it and I dont have a clue - just gaze at it and be impressed. And ye

Wow have I got some things to show you! Due to my stupid sciatic nerve pain Im not able to do a lot - but I can craft! Unfortunately I cant get cortisone nerve injection until the 26/10 so Im practicing patience which Im not very good at. Firstly, Ive been spinning at least 10 minutes each day - and I do think Im getting better! The bobbin on the left hand side of the pic is my first spinning efforts and on the right is the newer stuff and its getting much thinner and more even. Im super happy with this! Next I finished a sock! I love the colour of this yarn - its from Obsession yarns and the pattern is a test knit for a ravelry friend Heidi - love the cables in this. Second sock is cast on too! Ive also been working on a couple of quilts - this is the first four blocks of the istitchclub BOM by Gail Pan - Ive prepped all the other blocks up until September and just need to do the stitching on them. Another project Im really enjoying Ive also started to piece a half hexagon quil

And just like that its Spring! Yes the days are lovely but weve had a couple of frosty mornings this week. Ive been having a lot of trouble with my sciatic nerve in my left leg and its not getting any better - so trying hard to not do a lot ( HA HA ) and I see my GP this week for a decision of what to do about it - possibly a cortisone injection but I hope not. Its no good getting older thats for sure as the old body is breaking down. BUT.......I always have a good helper when Im out and about on the farm, and Beau really loves sitting in the passenger seat in the ute as we travel around. Good boy. I havent finished anything on the crafting front but I have started something! Gail Pan has been hosting a Block of the Month (pattern only) since the start of the year and Ive been eyeing it off since it started. Well I finally decided to sign up and received the first 8 blocks on the 31/8. Ive completed the January block and I love it. Im using a kit of fabrics I received for anothe
