So after an awesome week away from the farm we are home! And what a shock the weather has been!! Frosty and freezing and not that enjoyable - take me back to Queensland! Farmwise we hit the ground running - pregnancy testing of the herd to check who is still in calf and starting joining those that aren't by artificial insemination. Its a super busy time - for the first time ever though calving has finished before we start the next joining which is a goal Ive had for a very long time and its good to get that done! So.... back to our usual programming on what Ive achieved craft wise and reading wise - here we go! Firstly, if you followed our car journey to Queensland - you would know that I started a scarf from sock yarn leftovers and Im pleased to say it's finished! The yarn is all leftovers from an advent kit from last year that I made a shawl from - and there was a lot of leftovers.  It's also a great easy knit as its knitted in the round so all the ends are nicely tucked

Well who would have thought we would go on a holiday! Off the farm for a whole 7 days!!!! It's all due to our amazing staff who we have great faith in to look after everything really well while we are away.  Its a road trip and a plane trip - our new car has arrived so our daughter Sarah is buying our Ford Territory off us and as we are awesome parents we are driving it to her in Airlie Beach Queensland - 2199 kms away.  We will fly home So we headed off Monday morning (after AI'ing our heifers) just a bit before lunch - lunch stop was just past Deniliquin and Id made rolls and hot drinks to have.  Nothing better than eating on the side of the road and then we were off again.....driving through lots of changing countryside and yes I was knitting and Gary was driving - I was hopeful of getting this scarf finished on our trip! First night was spent at Forbes - we had hoped to get to Dubbo but it was getting dark and late so Forbes it was and a yummy pub meal too! Gary was hungry

What a week! We've been super busy on the farm as Gary and I are heading off next week to Queensland.  Our daughter sarah is buying our Ford Territory from us, as our new Ford Everest has arrived, so being the lovely parents that we are we are driving it up to Airlie Beach to her and then flying home.  Therefore lots to do here before we go.  Thankfully the last cow has calved so thats one thing our staff wont have to worry about while we are away.  Im looking forward to the drive - although it will be a long one! Not a lot finished this week though - although I finished putting together all the squares on this crochet blanket just in time to take with us to gift to sarah.  The pattern is called solid sue and is from Shelley Husband's Granny Square Academy book.  I used 100% wool from bendigo woollen mills. Im pretty happy with it! Sadly no books finished - but I should get some read/listened to on the trip and while relaxing when not driving! Let's see how that goes.   I

Well it's officially winter and the days have been warm! Yes cold and fresh in the mornings and from late afternoon onwards but the rest of the time is quite nice indeed.  We only have 5 cows left to calve and I wish they would hurry up so that job is done and dusted but cows seem to run on their own clock. We are now up to the beef calves being born and this little one was born yesterday - dont let its smallness or cuteness fool you - it has an excellent set of lungs!  In the crafting finishing department I finished a scarf and a hat this week! Firstly the scarf - the yarn and pattern was gifted to me by a lovely friend Susan in a swap on Ravelry.  I just love the colour of the yarn and it suits the pattern perfectly.  It was my first time using two balls of yarn at the same time and it was pretty easy. It probably helped that the pattern wasn't too complicated - the yarn is drops yarn and the pattern is th 6th street scarf I also finished this hat - the margareta beanie and
