Another productive week! The weather is starting to get colder and we are very grateful for our wood heater - it really keeps the place warm and toasty.  Also been catching up on lots of cattle work - lots of vaccinations have been happening and sorting out of cows - feels good to tick some of these things off.   Ive managed to finish two (yes two!!!) pairs of socks this week.  One pair I started way back in March and I had most of the first sock done.  It didnt take much to finish that one off and to do the second one. The pattern is Hot Leaf Juice socks and its by a ravelry friend of mine gweneverafter and I used some lornas laces soulmate sock - this yarn is a dream to work with. The second pair are from Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade and her Handmade sock society volume 5 - Shadow box socks I treated myself to the yarn she used to design the pattern and its from Louie and Lola yarns and its there merino sock.  Again a lovely pattern - these socks are longer than usual but super

I actually feel like Ive accomplished a few things this week and this quilt is top of the list.  I started it well over 10 years ago and had only completed one block.  I dug it out a few weeks ago, and although my tastes have changed and I dont really make quilts in this style anymore I really enjoyed making it.  It almost felt like a free quilt as I had everything I needed to finish it! The pattern is an old Chook Shed Pattern company pattern called Country Collectibles and I got it as a block of the month - the theory being you receive the pattern and fabric each month and do the work on that each month and finish it in seven months.  Obviously I didnt get the memo! I also finished a pair of socks. As many of you will recall Ive had trouble with my hands and wrists because of all the knitting Ive done so Ive had to be gentle on them.  This is my favourite all time pattern - Vanilla Latte and I think this is the 18th time Ive made it.  Ive gifted these and I hope the recipient likes

Whoops! Someone missed a week - guess that was me!!!! There's been a lot going on, and doing my blog update just slipped under the radar, but Im here and owning my forgetfulness and soldiering on.  And to be fair we've had a lot going on!  Calving is still happening and we are almost at the end of irrigation season (for those who are not in the know - we are only able to access our irrigation water - for watering our paddocks and also for stock drinking water - from the 15th of August until the 15th of May, the rest of the time we rely on rainfall.  So Gary in particular has spent a lot of days and nights watering paddocks and getting the last of our seed in and he's been doing a great job too. )  It does help having great staff who are keeping the other things ticking along - milking, calving, paddock stuff, hay feed out etc.  I  think we are really starting to gel as a team and really kicking goals! On the crafting side I managed to finish a hat, that was a test knit for
