Managed to get this weeks dear jane block of the week done ..........very big sigh.....it was L10 Nan's Naid - very very nasty one and it took me nearly 3 hours!!! The triangle was nice and easy - TR9 Needle's Point
Your DJ blocks look wonderful. It took me around 8 hours to hand piece one block, with 47 tiny pieces. But it was fun. I hope that is the highest number of pieces in any DJ block. :)
As the days go by.........yes its September! On the farm we are three quarters of the way through calving and the last group of "girls" to calve are quite spread out so it might take a while Excitingly we baled 210 rolls of silage this last week - so thats feed stored away for another day and another 120 odd bales from a block in town. Its so good to have this stored away as the grass doesnt last forever and cows still need to be fed. Fingers crossed we get some good rains this week so that the paddocks will be watered from above and not from irrigation. This week I also managed to finish a project thats taken me a month or two to complete - but Ive enjoyed every step of it. The pattern is the Tussie Mussie cushion and is designed by Emma Jean Jansen. I also bought the kit to make the cushion from her and just love the fabrics in it. Its english paper pieced and then attached to each of the small squares. These were then all joined together by machine and stitched in th...
And here we are in the third week of august - yep still some very cold mornings but lovely sunshine most days - sometimes with a cold breeze sometimes not We are still calviing here on the farm and are not quite half way but getting there - the bulls are in with the herd so hopefully doing what bulls do (if you know what I mean!) I have been working away on a few things - firstly I finished a pair of socks! The pattern is zigzag sock and I used some lovely self striping yarn from Ash and Eve Designs I also enjoyed the latest art journalling class run by Jenni Finn out of her Hey Sunday store - this one was all about ripping paper and creating almost 3 d like images - lots of fun And I finished the online quilting challenge wall hanging quilt and I love it - so bright and cheery and I really enjoyed the thinking of what to make for each round - highly recommend this sort of challenge to not just use up fabrics but also to get your thinking! Reading wise I finished the Covenant of Wa...
Well its been a sort of productive week (I think) well to be honest I dont really know where the week went! I know I had several day trips away to meetings in Bendigo (twice) and several online as well and we should be going to Queensland next week for a weeks holiday but its not to be. (insert sad face) Farmwise calving is still happening but definately slower and we have managed to bale some silage so thats awesome - feed put away for another day however in a month that the forecasters said would be a wet month its been incredibly dry! We have little faith in the weather bureaus predictions and only believe it when it actually happens. This is annoying as you would like to be able to plan crops etc with some degree of confidence when we have little. However there have been some beautiful morning sunrises as can be seen from this pic. I did manage to attend another art class with Jenni Finn and this time it was painting lemons - this one was on a canvas and im pretty happy with ho...
