Another productive week! The weather is starting to get colder and we are very grateful for our wood heater - it really keeps the place warm and toasty.  Also been catching up on lots of cattle work - lots of vaccinations have been happening and sorting out of cows - feels good to tick some of these things off.   Ive managed to finish two (yes two!!!) pairs of socks this week.  One pair I started way back in March and I had most of the first sock done.  It didnt take much to finish that one off and to do the second one. The pattern is Hot Leaf Juice socks and its by a ravelry friend of mine gweneverafter and I used some lornas laces soulmate sock - this yarn is a dream to work with. The second pair are from Helen Stewart of Curious Handmade and her Handmade sock society volume 5 - Shadow box socks I treated myself to the yarn she used to design the pattern and its from Louie and Lola yarns and its there merino sock.  Again a lovely pattern - these socks ar...

I actually feel like Ive accomplished a few things this week and this quilt is top of the list.  I started it well over 10 years ago and had only completed one block.  I dug it out a few weeks ago, and although my tastes have changed and I dont really make quilts in this style anymore I really enjoyed making it.  It almost felt like a free quilt as I had everything I needed to finish it! The pattern is an old Chook Shed Pattern company pattern called Country Collectibles and I got it as a block of the month - the theory being you receive the pattern and fabric each month and do the work on that each month and finish it in seven months.  Obviously I didnt get the memo! I also finished a pair of socks. As many of you will recall Ive had trouble with my hands and wrists because of all the knitting Ive done so Ive had to be gentle on them.  This is my favourite all time pattern - Vanilla Latte and I think this is the 18th time Ive made it.  Ive gifted the...

Whoops! Someone missed a week - guess that was me!!!! There's been a lot going on, and doing my blog update just slipped under the radar, but Im here and owning my forgetfulness and soldiering on.  And to be fair we've had a lot going on!  Calving is still happening and we are almost at the end of irrigation season (for those who are not in the know - we are only able to access our irrigation water - for watering our paddocks and also for stock drinking water - from the 15th of August until the 15th of May, the rest of the time we rely on rainfall.  So Gary in particular has spent a lot of days and nights watering paddocks and getting the last of our seed in and he's been doing a great job too. )  It does help having great staff who are keeping the other things ticking along - milking, calving, paddock stuff, hay feed out etc.  I  think we are really starting to gel as a team and really kicking goals! On the crafting side I managed to finish a hat, th...

Almost the end of another month! The weather is starting to cool down a bit so that should "in theory" mean more time inside and more time to get stuff done! We will see how that plays out Ive been continuing to work through my ufo's (unfinished objects) and I actually sold a few kits during the week that, although I still really like will realistically never get around to - and what a freeing feeling that is I did however dig out this small embroidery kit and frame and get that done and its super cute isn't it? I'll have to find a ribbon to hang it up with - not sure where but it will be hung somewhere.  It's a hugs n kisses kit from a year or two ago. Ive also been chipping away at the grey crocheted blanket and Im getting there - just a couple of squares to go and then all the joining up - thankfully Ive been sewing in the ends as I go. Ive also got back to sock knitting (but gently as my wrists are still certainly not up to speed) so hopefully by next wee...

Feels like this week has just flown by! The weather has been amazing and Ive spent a lot of time out in the garden and it's looking pretty good if I do say so myself -  who says you cant reuse wood chips from the calf pen!!! And yes I like salvias LOL  On the crafty finishing department - not a lot to show as Ive been talking it easy but I did finish the english paper pieced table runner which Im pretty happy with.  To be honest when I started it I probably didnt have the paper piecing skills but now that Ive done a bit it was quite straight forward. I also finished a test knit hat for a friend but Im not sure if I can share the pic of that as yet - so stay tuned! Reading wise I finished a book on my kindle - it was recommended by a friend (thanks Anne!) and the best way to describe it is its the grown up version of Peter Pan - its a bit dark in places but a pretty good read - Id give it 4 out of 5 stars but definitely not for kids! Short and sweet this week - thank...

Well that was Easter done and dusted and we are currently enjoying having Aimee, Matt and their family here with us.  We went and watched Maddison play her first netball game for White Hills - and luckily they played at Leitchville so just down the road.  She did well and her energy amazes me but then she's quite a few years younger than me LOL They only lost by 2 goals so it was  great effort for a new team. Ive just looked at my hopeful of finishing list from last week and I did get a bit done - Ive made a couple of the grey blanket squares so should get that finished this week.   I DID finish the place mats for Gary and I - and we've been using them too! I used up some leftovers from a quilt I made and I really like how the fabric pieces work together - here's a real live actual picture of them being used. Guess which one is mine? And Garys? I also finished a physical book "The Embroidered Book" by Kate Heartfield.  Its a historical story with a tw...

Ive decided that April will be the month for finishing off things so Ive been sorting through my craft stuff and finding the things to finish.  It includes (but not all sadly!!)! - crochet grey blanket (I have 6 squares to go!) - english paper pieced playing with paper blocks (there are 3 Ive done most of 1) - placemats x 2 (cut out and mostly pieced together) And a few kits Id like to get made up as well - one for making soap and the other for a roped basket Also three pairs of socks Ive started! Oh and another crocheted blanket - baby dots and a shawl Id like to make to Well thats a start at least and I can assure you there are plenty of other things on the "to do" list But I do have one finish which Im really proud of - I named March as Mosaic month and I Finally got round to completing the mosaic coasters and tray I got as kits.  Technically not finished until April as I need do get some paint for the finishing of the tray.  But here they are in their glory and ...
