First week of December 2025
Its the first week of December and Christmas week
For me the last few years at Christmas time have been really hard, sad and challenging with mum and Garys dad passing at that time and other things going on in our family
I dont think Ive even really put up a "proper" Christmas tree since before then - maybe a token thing at the last minute, but this year I decided to "try" and decorate
So December 1 saw us putting up our tree and wreath and a few other decorations around the house and I must admit Im glad Ive been making various Christmas items to as that helps!
And in a nod and happy/sad memory of Mum Ive bought a poinsettia to sit on the kitchen sink, which Mum always did - it was always in the way (yep achieving that) and some time between Christmas and New Year Mum would ask me to take it to my place to bring it back to life as she had either over watered or forgetten to water it - most times Ive been successful in keeping it alive until mid year however our weather isnt that condusive to its survival
Heres a pic of Mum enjoying her room 5 years ago when I decorated it for her - she did so love Christmas and it makes missing her that bit harder
I also made a little area of all the things Ive made with Barb Smith which is a bit of fun
I havent finished any projects but have been working on multiple advent things which may or may not be done and dabbling in a few others -stay tuned!
What have I read?
My daughter Sarah recommended this book to me as a nice easy read and it was! Its the story of Mika, a witch, who goes to work at Nowhere House as tutor to three young girls who are also witches. Of course all witches have to keep them being that secret so others dont know about them. Yes it sounds like an easy cosy listen but there are two HUGE plot twists that I had no idea were coming and were so well written. Because of this the book is a 5 star read from me.
Christmas is coming!
