3rd week of September 2025

3rd week of September is done and dusted Things are continuing well on the farm with the last of the calves being born and silage being made and some lovely sunny days too - as the saying goes "if its going to rain it might as well be a nice day" Ive finished off a few biggish projects which is very satisfying - firstly the Snow and Ashes Shawl - I bought the yarn specifically for this a couple of years ago at the Bendigo Sheep and Wool show - so it was good to get this one ticked off. I have enough yarn leftover to make the matching mitts, so stay tuned! I also made a crochet bag - now Im not the worlds best crocheter but I can do granny squares and this was really that with a few joins and a handle ANd finally the circle appliqued cushion was finished as well! This was such a fun project to do and I do love doing hand applique and slow stitching quilting Ive finished the physical book of The Royal Windsor Secret by Christine Wells. This was a really good read - not fab...

2nd week of September 2025

Well its been a sort of productive week (I think) well to be honest I dont really know where the week went! I know I had several day trips away to meetings in Bendigo (twice) and several online as well and we should be going to Queensland next week for a weeks holiday but its not to be. (insert sad face) Farmwise calving is still happening but definately slower and we have managed to bale some silage so thats awesome - feed put away for another day however in a month that the forecasters said would be a wet month its been incredibly dry! We have little faith in the weather bureaus predictions and only believe it when it actually happens. This is annoying as you would like to be able to plan crops etc with some degree of confidence when we have little. However there have been some beautiful morning sunrises as can be seen from this pic. I did manage to attend another art class with Jenni Finn and this time it was painting lemons - this one was on a canvas and im pretty happy with ho...

1st week of September 2025

As the days go by.........yes its September! On the farm we are three quarters of the way through calving and the last group of "girls" to calve are quite spread out so it might take a while Excitingly we baled 210 rolls of silage this last week - so thats feed stored away for another day and another 120 odd bales from a block in town. Its so good to have this stored away as the grass doesnt last forever and cows still need to be fed. Fingers crossed we get some good rains this week so that the paddocks will be watered from above and not from irrigation. This week I also managed to finish a project thats taken me a month or two to complete - but Ive enjoyed every step of it. The pattern is the Tussie Mussie cushion and is designed by Emma Jean Jansen. I also bought the kit to make the cushion from her and just love the fabrics in it. Its english paper pieced and then attached to each of the small squares. These were then all joined together by machine and stitched in th...

Last week of August 2025

And just like that August is over! For us its a calving month, so super busy and also starting to think about making hay and silage (that will be September) and what we will plant and water for summer feed. I enjoyed another art journal class with Jenni Finn - this time it was vases - I like the black one I did but not sure about the other one and mind you neither of them looked anything like the sample Jenn did! Ive also been really enjoying working on a kit I bought several years ago - Tussie Mussie Cushion by Emma Jean Jansen. Its english paper piecing but in small achievable blocks and the fabrics she put into the kit are fabulous! I do like hand stitching - in all its forms and the pattern calls for it to be hand quilted as well which Im pretty sure I will do Ive also been doing some knitting but not a lot to show - its a shawl and Ill share it with you once its a bit bigger and a bit more interesting! On the reading front - Ive finished quite a few books! First the physica...
