#eastercraftalong
Well Easter is over and it was a lovely relaxing time for me - Im currently chairing two organisations as well as the farm work that is needed so it was lovely to have four whole days of no one ringing for advice or having to attend a meeting (not that I dont enjoy that - it was just nice to have a break)
While looking on instagram (as you do) I found the inspiring barefootcrafter was hosting an eastercraftalong and of course I had to join in
I made a list (which I thought was ambitious) but you know what I got it all done!
Firstly I listed a few jobs around the place I wanted to get done as follows -
- wash my car (Aimee and Matt came for a visit and did this for me and did a fabulous job)
- clean out the ute
- wash the lounge room louvre doors
- mow the lawns
- weed the veggie patch
- sort some things to take to the op shop
Yep all of those got done (on top of my usual tasks)
Then there was the crafting list! And again all done!
Finished zippered pouch For some reason Im a bit scared of zips but an online friend challenged myself and a couple of others to make this and I did - I used leftovers from a quilt and Im pretty happy with how it turned out
Finish my book
This got done too and you may recall I challenged myself to read a non fiction or self help book this month.
I finished How did I get here by Christine Caine
Wow, I think it's the perfect time for me to read it, as it's been sitting on my shelf for quite a while. I needed this book so much, and I believe everyone does at some point in their Christian life. Sometimes life happens, and we seem to go with the flow, ending up far away from what our lives should be. We drift away from our God without even realizing it. If you are like me and find yourself wandering, this book can help you put your life back in perspective.
Destash some yarn and fabric
I sold two large lots of fabric and several lots of yarn online and now have $410 in my paypal account! Feels good and Im glad these lovely things will be used by someone else. I have way too much stuff to every get done in my lifetime (or two or three lifetimes!)
Make candles
My girls gave me a candle making kit for Christmas - I had made up half of it but ran out of containers, so went to local trash and treasure and bought several glasses and containers for the princely sum of $5 to make the rest of the wax up. They will now need to cure for a month or so before I use them or gift them.
I also wanted to work on the boro embroidery that I did at the AQC class and Ive made good progress and Im really enjoying it - Im over half way now and the texture is fabulous.
I also stewed some apples that the neighbour gave us and they were a great hit with Gary and Megan but forgot to take a picture of that.
Oh and I finished an audio book too - The White Tower by Michael Wisehart
This is a fantasy book set in a world where magic is outlawed.
A baby is hidden because of what it can do and others who perform magic have to do it in hiding or face torture or death.
There are evil plots abounding and some very not nice characters
I did enjoy this book but its waaaaay too long - I doubt I will read any more in the series but it was a good taster. Its been in my to read queue for ages and its a three star listen for me.
The other great thing over Easter was that I had such a lovely sense of happiness and peace and happy to be at home doing what I love. Havent felt like that for such a long time and it was fabulous.
Hopefully there will be more times like this.
