2024 - May 20 - May 26
Well once again I had (I think) a quite productive week and also got to spend time at the local football/netball watching our grandddaughter Mia play netball. She didnt win but she sure did play well and with a great attitude too!
Also got to hang out with grandson Jake as well and he spent a lot (and I mean a lot) of time picking up rubbish around the football ground - he really doesnt like to see it laying around.
What a cutie he is!
It was a perfect sunny day and we all really enjoyed ourselves
I was really pleased to finally finish the Owl and Hare Hollow Block of the month quilt. Its been a lot of work with lots of hand piecing and applique but I must admit Ive really enjoyed working on it and the variety that it brought with it. I quilted it myself as well and Im super happy with it
Now that has finished it gives me more time to concentrate on the Flower pots quilt and Ill update you on that next week when I hope to have most of the centre completed
I also finished another of the embroidery kits I have to do and this one is "home sweet home". Its cute and the instructions from Clever Poppy were excellent. Im enjoying these projects are they are not that complex, and dont take a huge amount of time to do to get a great result
Ive also manged to finish another two books - firstly physical book - Tower of Dawn which is the 6th book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. Another great book in the series - this one covers the stories of not the main characters but some "side" ones and I really like learning more about them. Chaol was the Head of the Guards for the previous King but was injured and now cant walk and Nesryn is the new head of the guards - they both travel to Khagan to enlist help but also to see if Chaol can be healed. He meets a beautiful healer named Yrene and well the rest you will have to read. It was great to have this book focus on a different direction and perspective and of course I will give it 5 out of 5 stars!
Ive now started the last book in the series and its a bit daunting as it had over 900 pages!
On audio book I also finished Fly away by Kristen Hannah and it is the sequel to Firefly Lane. I found this book really good as yes (sadly) it talked a lot about death and grieving but as Im still really struggling with the loss of my mum it did help a lot to read of different thoughts and perspectives. THeres a lot of looking back in the book, which some may not enjoy but I sure did and several of the characters are a bit selfish and self centred but thats ok too!
Again 5 stars out of 5
So Im pleased to report another successful week of getting things done - although if I didnt get anything finished Im quite ok with that as life is too short to worry about that!
