November 4 - November 10

The weather is crazy - one day 39 degrees the next in the low 20's But I suppose that is november in northern victoria! We are gearing up for our big cow AI (articial insemination) program that starts next week - so from monday there will be lots of looking at our cow collar activity to see whether they are on heat or not - stay tuned! Ive got a new obsession with making bowl covers - the things that you put under your bowl when youve heated the food so you dont get burnt - these ones are for aimee and I think I might make a few for people for Christmas.
Ive also finished another beginner embroidery kit from Clever Poppy - this one involving satin stitch which previously I havent been that good but the tutorial was great and I think ive done quite a good job on this one
Ive also finished a special baby quilt for someone that my mum held dear
I also finished a physical book - The Mallee Girl by Jennifer Scoular. This was a book club read that I really enjoyed Set not that far from where I live so it was easy to slip into it There were also horses and dogs and romance so all in all an excellent novel and 5 stars from me - and it an easy read too
Phew - that is 4 weeks of blog posts caught up on - hopefully I can go back to keeping on track!

My Mum Mum was a quiet achiever, going through life with all its ups and downs with little complaining and always enjoyed the escape of a good book. My Mum was lovely – she cared so much about her family and so loved to hear about all our goings on Although in later life she had health issues – she faced them all bravely and worked to find out the best way to live her best life and bore them with dignity. Her life was one of change and she changed and adapted with the changes. Pamela Blanche Geoghegan was born in Bendigo on the 30th December 1938 (yes she just missed her birthday this year) to loving parents Stanley Norman Geoghegan and Emily Ada Blanche Pattinson. The year previously her brother Brian Stanley was born but he died shortly after birth. When she was only 6 years old her father Stan passed away at the age of 30 and for the next 13 years it was just Pam and her mother Blanche living together and they got on famously as Mum would say. The 4th of March 2024 is now a very special day for our family - it was the day Ollie (Oliver) Michael Sterling arrived! There was a lot of waiting for his arrival and Sarah was 11 days overdue I had been in Airlie Beach awaiting his happy arrival for 2 weeks - Gary and Aimee came for a week but unfortunately missed out on his arrived by a couple of days. Oh he is such a cute little dude! Kris, Sarah, Evie and Jessie are totally besotted with him as are we all! So enjoy the cute pics below and excuse me my lack of blog posting!

a special finish october 7- october 13

Ive had a very special finish and its a quilt that I love, I wish I didnt have to make but Im so glad that I have When mum went to heaven, the online quilting group that I am a member of - Southern Cross Quilters had the members make me heart blocks in rememberance of my dear mum. I asked for rainbow colours for the hearts as one of mums favorite songs was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This is the result and its it lovely..... Its taken me a while to be able to sew them together and to quilt and bind it - I needed to wait for the right time Yes it was sad but also so very healing and it is one very special quilt that will hold a very special place in my heart Thank you to each and every one of the SCQuilters who made me a block Your love shines through Also PS the fabric I used as the borders and the backing fabrics were mums as was the label panel - that felt right
