Second week of August - where are the days going!!!!! We now have 16 calves in the calf shed and they are all going well - these are all calves from our heifers, with the cows due to start any day - then things will get busy/exciting I finished something! In the reading department, firstly I finished the physical book of The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods.
This is a beautiful story and a nice easy read The main theme of the book is: "In a place called lost, strange things are found." If you can solve the meaning of this riddle, you may truly capture the full essence of the entire manuscript. There are three main characters—Ophelia, Martha, and Henry. They take us on a journey from Paris to London and Ireland back up and down the time line Theres romance, mystery and a bit of fantasy and an enjoyable read - 4 stars Next is When the Moon Hatched by Sarah Parker
I tried to like this book and I just couldnt - to me its a copy of so many other books (eg Sarah J Mass etc) yes there is a strong female character, there are dragons etc but its just plain hard to read and understand It was a DNF for me 2nd week of August done and dusted!

Ive had a very special finish and its a quilt that I love, I wish I didnt have to make but Im so glad that I have When mum went to heaven, the online quilting group that I am a member of - Southern Cross Quilters had the members make me heart blocks in rememberance of my dear mum. I asked for rainbow colours for the hearts as one of mums favorite songs was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This is the result and its it lovely..... Its taken me a while to be able to sew them together and to quilt and bind it - I needed to wait for the right time Yes it was sad but also so very healing and it is one very special quilt that will hold a very special place in my heart Thank you to each and every one of the SCQuilters who made me a block Your love shines through Also PS the fabric I used as the borders and the backing fabrics were mums as was the label panel - that felt right

January 1 2025 - the year of trust

Here we are at the start of a new year - and I know for many its a day of making intentions and promises and looking ahead. The last couple of years have been incredibly hard for me with loss, sadness and disappointment. I am looking forward though and hoping for a better 2025 and I really feel my word for 2025 is trust. When I googled (as you do) the meaning of trust this came up The 4 elements of trust (Competency, Consistency, Integrity, and Compassion) are dependent on the way we behave - both individually and collectively. These behaviors come from innate traits that determine how we, as human beings, respond and/or act in any situation. I found this here - I think for me and what Im thinking at the moment - I need to trust myself, my beliefs, my thoughts and those around me who love and care for me. Working on some ufo's and a finish too!

Well here we are in 2025! If you read my last blog post, you will know Im intending on taking this a little easier (on myself that is) I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to do and to achieve and yes I do like doing all the things and achieving lots of things, dont get me wrong, but I want to do things that bring me joy and satisfaction. I know for the last few years Ive been showing you things as they are finished - this year Im going to show you things as they are progressing. I have a huge list of things (UFO's as we call them - unfinished objects) and I would really like to finish quite a few of them. I also have quite a lot of "new" projects I would like to get done - so you will get a blend of both.
