1st week of August 2025

And here we are in august already!
On the farm the mornings are still quite cold but weve been having some beautiful days - we wouldnt mind a bit more rain so that we can "water" the feed growing in our paddocks with rain rather than irrigation - which starts again on the 15th of August This is a pic of the dairy early one morning - I did reflect that even though it was quite cold - it was still very pretty - 530 am in the morning was the time I took this and if you know me you know I love the early mornings - for me its the best time of the day. Even better that Im not milking and can go about the start of the day that I like to do! I dont have anything finished craft wise to show you - but dont worry there are plenty of things on the go - a pair of socks which are a test knit, a hat and a challenge quilt - maybe next week something will be finished
On the reading side of things I finished (via audible) Empire of Storms which is the 5th book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas This is the 5th book in the series and it sort of ties of lot of ends together. I found myself now liking characters I didnt like before (eg Manon) and not necessarily liking others {eg Aelin) but we will still where the story goes from here. Although a battle was fought and won the war is not and we are left at the end of the book hanging where things are going to go. Of course its a 5 star read, that goes without saying and Ive (of course) started the next book in the series
I needed a break from all the full-on fantasy books I've been reading, and this was just perfect! It’s set 100 years apart (in 1911 and 2011), and the story moves back and forth between both time frames. It starts in 2011 when Sarah boards a plane for Ireland, unaware (she thought she was travelling to the US) and ends up staying in a cabin during New Year's. She finds a diary from Anna written in 1911, where she shares her story. There's a bit of magic in the interactions people have with the fae and also some love interest. I really enjoyed this and its a 5 star relaxing read

Ive had a very special finish and its a quilt that I love, I wish I didnt have to make but Im so glad that I have When mum went to heaven, the online quilting group that I am a member of - Southern Cross Quilters had the members make me heart blocks in rememberance of my dear mum. I asked for rainbow colours for the hearts as one of mums favorite songs was Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This is the result and its it lovely..... Its taken me a while to be able to sew them together and to quilt and bind it - I needed to wait for the right time Yes it was sad but also so very healing and it is one very special quilt that will hold a very special place in my heart Thank you to each and every one of the SCQuilters who made me a block Your love shines through Also PS the fabric I used as the borders and the backing fabrics were mums as was the label panel - that felt right

January 1 2025 - the year of trust

Here we are at the start of a new year - and I know for many its a day of making intentions and promises and looking ahead. The last couple of years have been incredibly hard for me with loss, sadness and disappointment. I am looking forward though and hoping for a better 2025 and I really feel my word for 2025 is trust. When I googled (as you do) the meaning of trust this came up The 4 elements of trust (Competency, Consistency, Integrity, and Compassion) are dependent on the way we behave - both individually and collectively. These behaviors come from innate traits that determine how we, as human beings, respond and/or act in any situation. I found this here - I think for me and what Im thinking at the moment - I need to trust myself, my beliefs, my thoughts and those around me who love and care for me. Working on some ufo's and a finish too!

Well here we are in 2025! If you read my last blog post, you will know Im intending on taking this a little easier (on myself that is) I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to do and to achieve and yes I do like doing all the things and achieving lots of things, dont get me wrong, but I want to do things that bring me joy and satisfaction. I know for the last few years Ive been showing you things as they are finished - this year Im going to show you things as they are progressing. I have a huge list of things (UFO's as we call them - unfinished objects) and I would really like to finish quite a few of them. I also have quite a lot of "new" projects I would like to get done - so you will get a blend of both.
