third week of February 2026
Reading wise - again a few finishes! And Im amazed to realise that Ive read/listened to 12 books this year alread which is apparently 19% of my goal to read 64 books this year
The Lucky Sisters by Rachel Johns which I read as a physical book.
I loved this book - and its not just because it has a pretty cover (which may be why I bought it)
This is the story of Nora and Stevie Lucky, twins who were adopted not long after birth. Their adopted mum dies and they are about to turn 50 so decide to try and find their biological parents. The results of this cause them both to have a serious rethink of their lives - some for good, some not and their lives are thrown into disarray.
This is an excellent set in australia book by a great australian author and a definite 5 star read from me.
The School of Mirrors by Eva Stachniak which I listened to as an audiobook via audible
This is such a sad book about a time in history when young women were not thought much of except for the convenience of the elite. It is set in Versailles during the reign of Louis XV and tells the story of Veronique and her time in "Deer Park" overseen by Madame Pompadour and then her later life as a midwife. This was a sad and dark time for France and this book reflects that
