1st week of July 2025
Ok Im going to try and post weekly again as it keeps me on track so much better!
When you run a farm (which is a business) the new financial year feels like new years day sometimes. Thoughts of which milk company to send your milk to - we supply ACM (Australian Consolidated Milk) do I need to change the ways I record things? What did I not do quite right last year and how can I improve etc etc
with that in mind I was excited to find that my past self had purchased a set of monthly dividers for the folder I store my paper invoices in so that was a win so that folder is now set up and going.
We are continuing to AI (artificial inseminate) our cows with 134 of the 160 eligible done - fingers crossed they dont "return" which means that the insemination didnt take so we will do again or Mr Bull might get lucky also.
Craft wise I have finished a beautiful wall quilt - pattern by McKenna Ryan and I machine applique and threadworked it - something I havent done before and I love how it turned out. Its now hanging above our bed
My daughter Sarah requested me to knit a pair of mitts for Ollies little hands as they are getting cold in the mornings when they go for a walk and hes in the pram (mind you they are in Queensland but its not always warm and sunny there)
Now the whole family is very knitworthy so of course I couldnt make just plain mitts I had to do something a bit fancy and it was also a very quick and satisfying knit and used up some leftovers The pattern is called Baby Mitts With Marius and uses fingering weight yarn so perfect for sock leftovers!
In the reading department I finished the audio book Of Heir of Fire which is the third book in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas This was excellent. Its not often that the third book in a series is just as good as the first but this one is! The main character is still celaena who is sent to a neighboring kingdom. She must find a way to destroy the wyrdkeys to save the kingdom (and possibly the world) from the rule of a corrupt kingdom. There she meets Rowan (a faerie) who changes everything (and her) We also meet Manon who is a witch and is sent to join the corrupt kings army and ride a wyvern. And finally there is still Chaeol and Dorian left back at Rifthold to deal with the goings on there. I could hardly put it down and of course its a 5 star read!
SO thats week one of July 2025 ticked off!
