BLESSED SPEEDY

The days are getting so much nicer although the mornings are still a bit coolish and we did have a frost one morning but I do think spring is on its way! Plenty more (actually lots!!!!) of babies born this week. I did finish quite a few crafting things this week but one task in particular was Very Important. My grandson Declan said he knew that I could "fix anything" and could I please fix 3 of his toys that their puppy Dakota had, well, wrecked. Pressure was on but I managed to get it done! Heres after - And heres before - Im pretty pleased with how they turned out and I think Ive kept my title of being able to fix anything! I also finished the rainbow y hexagon quilt and Im super happy with how it turned out - thanks to my friend Nicky who gave me the bones of it and I added a bit of my own flair. Once again I quilted this with stippling using variageted thread and I think it suits it really well I also completed another quilt but its a bit of a secret at the mo...

And another weeke when I wonder "where did the week go?????" Lots of this happening at the moment (calves being born!)And most of them are girl ones too! I amanged to squeeze in one finished project - a drink bottle holder - which was a tricky thing to do and the pattern didnt make a lot of sense but I got there! I also have a few other nearly finished project which hopefully will be done by next week! (I feel like I say that a lot) On the reading front Ive got lots of finishes! Firstly (physical book) Is Yellowface by R.F. Kuang Its the story of a writer whose friend dies in front of her and she "steals" her manuscrit and claims it as her own. Its had a lot of hype as a great read and it was - defiantely a 5 starrs out of 5 read for me. In fact I read it in two big reading sessions and couldnt put it down Next (physical book) finished was The Bookshop of Second Chances by Jackie Fraser. A fairly quite week that seemed to go very quickly indeed! Lots of getting things done on the farm and staying at home resting my still sore leg - Ive managed to have a pinched siatica and it hurts a lot! I did manage to finish off a little trio of sewing items - a needlcase, a pincushion and a little pouch. Been sitting cut out for ages so Im slowly ticking off the ufo (unfinished objects) pile. Arent they cute? Nothing finished on the reading front! So a short but quick update this week - see you next week with hopefully a much bigger update!

 An interesting week here on the farm! First small batch of calves are born and in the shed and now we wait a few weeks for the main event (all the rest to calve) start.  Oddly put in some seed too and we are hoping that grows.  Due to my sciatic nerve pain Ive been confined to the house a lot and still be culling some of the things I dont think I will ever get around to making and they have all gone to excellent homes. On the flip side a very special friend of mine gifted me some things she wasn't going to finish and I've finished the first of them!  This is the coventry quilt designed by Jinny Beyer and its foundation pieced.    I love the colours and the design and I free motion quilted it on my domestic Janome sewing machine.  And just like that I have heaps of finished things to show you, and Im pleased about that as last week was all about progress (or lack there of) Firstly I finished a sock! This one has been my travel knitting project (yes I always have something on hand to work on if Im to be a passenger in the car while Gary is driving - Im sure that doesn't surprise you and its amazing the amount I get done!) The pattern is called stack of books and the yarn is from stray cats yarns in the colour way maisie. Im actually pretty impressed how well i matched up the stripes in the pair.  Next was the - ta da!!!! - cross stitch project that I have spent literally hours and hours on and at times I almost gave up but Im glad I didnt and I really like it!  Its currently at the framers getting framed as I think its just a bit special And thirdly (yep 3 finishes on the craft front this week) I finished this hat - now green is not a colour I like but a friend sent me this and I liked it!  Th...

This week has again been busy on the farm with ai (artificial insemination still going strong! Hopefully lots of red heifer calves next march and april! We've had our first calf born for spring and it came 10 days early so its quite small but it makes up for its small stature by having an excellent set of lungs and an excellent drinking capacity - I think I will call it  "barrel" as you can see from the pic - she's pretty full and round! I dont have any finishes on either the crafting or reading side of things - but Im really happy with my progress on the cross stitch - Im up to the final lot of flowers! This has been a challenge - I thought it was a fairly easy cross stitch (as Ive only done one previously) but it's actually A Lot.  Im wanting to get it finished by the end of July and I think I might just do it! So a short but sweet (and cute) update this week - see you next week with hopefully a lot of finishes!  

 And just like that another week has gone by! What did I do? Well we succeeded in getting Every Single Cow eligible for AI done - woohoo, something we have NEVER achieved - fingers crossed that a good proportion of them are in calf, yes there will be returns (as in having to AI them again but thats to be expected) Next March is going to be busy! Also snuck in two days off farm to firstly attend the Bendigo Sheep and Wool show - here's what a bought and I think it's pretty modest! A couple of kits and supplys for felting, some buttons and some fleece to spin.  Gaz bought a calf trailer and a whipper snipper thingy so spent lots more than me!  Megan came with us too which was fun. Stayed the night in Bendigo (or Spendigo) as we like to call it then off to watch Declan play footy and Maddy and Mia play netball - that was fun!
